One of them is Don Havelock, a man who has done a great job of supporting our small team, providing expert assistance in developing this concept and launching his own small project to raise additional funding. This wonderful person deserves to be known to the entire community of classic shaving supporters. That’s why we placed a thank you note in his honor on all branded boxes of the new shaving brush. This is the least of what he deserves.

The PERUN CSB (Convertible Shaving Brush) is the second project of our company in the market of products for classic wet shaving. It is named after the supreme pagan god of the ancient Slavs. Like Zeus among the ancient Greeks or Odin among the Scandinavian peoples, Perun is part of the ancient history, mythology and culture of Ukraine. The PERUN CSB is a new way of looking at the design and production of classic shaving brushes, an attempt to apply new approaches and technologies to achieve comfort, versatility, convenience and style in one product at the same time. As a result of our efforts, it is now a symbiosis of unique ergonomics, some engineering solutions, innovative materials, original design, finishing and decor.

The replaceable ergonomic handle main of the most anatomical shape is specially designed separately for right-handers and left-handers and you can choose the desired option when purchasing or ordering. Thanks to the unique shape and correctly selected weight balance of the main handle, the tension and fatigue of the hand during intensive whipping of foam is significantly reduced. Now you can whip up a thick foam with an almost relaxed hand – the handle fits in the hand “like a glove”.

“The current main handle is an artistically processed cast of the inner surface of the fingers of a person in a semi-relaxed state of the hand. We slightly supplemented the design with some elements without changing the previously obtained anatomically important surfaces. That is why the shape of the handle turned out to be unusual, and separate versions for right-handers and left-handers appeared.

We specifically conducted many tests in which we examined the fatigue and tension of the hand during intensive whipping of foam using handles of anatomical shape but of different weights. As a result, the handle has a composite structure that allows for weight reduction at a fixed size, using substances that are less dense than conventional resin, Micarta or similar materials”

We also offer high-quality 26 mm Manchurian two-band badger hair knots in bulb or fan shape to choose from, with good elasticity and density. The default free loft is 52-53 mm and can be changed if desired. The hair knots are tightly inserted into the head of the shaving brush, but are not glued in and, if desired, can be replaced by the user with others. Also, if desired, you can change the free loft within approximately 8 mm, using pads under the glued part of the knot.

“We spent quite a long time choosing a supplier of badger knots, testing each sample received many times, and chose a worthy option in all respects. Empirically, a peculiarity was discovered – a wet knot is held too tightly. Therefore, to change the free loft it is necessary to completely dry the brush before removing the hair knot. The diameters of the holes for hair knots of the same diameter (currently 26 mm) may differ from product to product and are adjusted to each knot individually. Special adjusting rings-linings (8 pieces in total) with spacer pins are already adjusted to the diameter of a specific hole: 2 pieces are already pre-installed in the hole under the knot, and the remaining 6 pieces are attached to the inside of the box lid. There is also a spare wooden clothespin (to hold the set in the box) which is also already adjusted to this particular set and does not require modification. Squeeze the opposite levers and gently pull up to unlock the holder”

The replaceable traveling handle in short and long versions included.

“As you know, the detachable shaving brush head in this set is used for the travel version in combination with other parts. In the future, we plan to release new heads and handles of other shapes with expanded functionality, mutually compatible with existing parts. The video shows how the parts are articulated in a traveling configuration.

The first few times of use, the latches on both sides of the cylinder may become tighter than usual. One of the ends of the cylinder (rounded with a small protrusion upward) works a little softer than the opposite one due to the peculiarities of the production technology”

All parts are made of impact-resistant, wear-resistant and chemically neutral biomedical polymer. The surface of the parts is velvety for a secure grip on the handle when water and soap get on your skin. Shaving soap with time leaves a “white residue” behind. To eliminate it from the surface of these set parts, use the included surface care product.

“Since the design of some parts from this set contains several critically thin and at the same time functionally loaded elements, modern polymers of the polyamide class are used instead of traditional (rather fragile) materials. A hydrophobic coating is applied to the surface of all parts, and the kit additionally contains a bottle of special polish and a napkin. The use of this product restores the surface to a new state, removes all dirt and minor scratches, and also repels dust during further storage”

Metal inserts are made of anodized stainless steel and do not corrode. The graphic decor is presented in the traditional style of the ancient Slavs. It contains corresponding ornaments and symbols – the Sign of Perun, the symbol of fire and a stylized image of the Perun’s Ax.

“The sign of Perun and the Perun’s Ax are often used as male amulets, symbolizing bravery and courage and were depicted everywhere on the armor of warriors. On the handle of the shaving brush the Sign of Perun is depicted in tongues of fire, and on the stand it is framed by an ornament. Perun’s Ax is depicted on the smaller of the two decorative elements on the side of the handle. In mythology, this is an analogue of Thor’s Hammer”

The stand has special weighting inside and rubber feet on the bottom, making it stable even on a wet surface.

“The stand, like the handle, has some complication in the form of granite or glass weighting inside. But unlike the handle, this feature makes the stand not lighter, but significantly heavier and, accordingly, more stable than if it was made simply from traditional materials. Rubber feet are securely fixed in special holder holes at the bottom of the stand”

RECOMMENDATIONS

The brush and stand are secured in a wooden box with a special “clothespin”. Squeeze the opposite levers and gently pull up to unlock the holder.

Shaving soap with time leaves a “white residue” behind. To eliminate it from surface of this set parts, use the included surface care product.

To change the free loft it is necessary to completely dry the brush before removing the hair knot – a wet knot is held too tightly.
